I've always found that when I see a piece of artwork and I see the technique before the content, it's smoked over and not very good, however...
There ARE a few exceptions to this rule, and this piece is one of them.
It's been a while since I've seen artwork that when, I looked at it first, I saw the technique before the content, and it STILL had a powerful presense.
